What better place than an art gallery to launch 2 of our extraordinary furniture pieces. On the 22nd of September our studio launched the Robben Island Coffee Table and the Cape Town Carpet. Guests were welcomed with a glass of wine at prestigious Art@Africa Gallery which is located in the Clock Tower Mall at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town, South Africa.
The Cape Town Carpet was the first piece that we launched that day. The 2m x 3m carpet was suspended from one of the beams inside the gallery. As the name suggests the carpet maps out Cape Town’s streets, rivers, mountains and the ocean. Robben Island is also included in the one corner of the carpet as well as the beaches surrounding the city. We incorporated dimension into the carpet by differing the pile heights of specific colours which has resulted in great depth within the carpet.
The second piece we launched that day was the Robben Island Coffee Table. As this is our flagship piece we decided to do a reveal of the table. As guests arrived they saw a silhouette of table which was covered by a black cloth. It was very exciting for us to reveal this piece and guests were just as excited so see this mesmerizing table.
Our New York City Carpet is also exhibited at the Art@Africa gallery. After the launch we decided to move our New York City Carpet from the wall to the floor at the gallery. This has given the carpet a new perspective as guests can now walk the streets of New York City in the art gallery.
Our furniture will be exhibited for the next year and a half at the Art@Africa Gallery. We would love to have you at our next launch, simply sign up to our newsletter in the black bar at the bottom of this page to receive invites to future events.
